Our motto and aim is “Caring in Action!” Hands On Hartford is an affiliate of the Hands On Network, an innovative national alliance of organizations committed to reshaping volunteerism and civic engagement in the and in the world.

HandsOn Hartford’s Volunteer Accelerators

Hands On Hartford is looking for a dozen energetic, creative and self-propelled individuals to join our AmeriCorps Volunteer Accelerator Team. The HandsOn AmeriCorps Members will:

3) design volunteer projects and events aimed at bringing people together to serve

The service varies from day to day, offering a mix of management/administrative duties, leadership development/training projects, and hands-on work with people in need…all within the context of a dynamic and supportive team.  It’s hard but satisfying work if you’ve got the drive, organizational skills, creativity and commitment…and doing it as a team can make all the difference in the world.

Commitment

These positions run September 1, 2010 to August 31, 2011. Members will serve a flexible 40-hour week, including occasional evenings and weekends, in a business-casual setting. AmeriCorps members will be required to complete 1700 or more hours of service over the 12-month period.

Compensation

Members will receive a living stipend of about $225 per week, paid bi-weekly.  Upon completion of service an educational award of $5,350 will be awarded to full-time members for use at college/graduate school or toward repayment of student loans. Training and mentoring will be provided by Hands On Hartford staff and recognized local trainers. These positions include a basic health care plan (Corps Members only, no dependents), loan forbearance for federal student loans and childcare assistance.
